Practical

Travel tips & practical info for your trip.

01

How to get here

The fastest route is from Keramoti port to Limenas (Thassos Town), with the ferry ride taking about 35 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the ferry from Kavala port to Skala Prinou, which takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes. Tip: If you are traveling in July or August with a car, make sure to arrive at the port a bit earlier to secure your tickets smoothly.

02

When to visit

June and the first half of September offer the perfect balance: fewer crowds, beautifully warm sea, and ideal weather. May and October are truly magical months for travelers who cherish absolute tranquility, hiking, and relaxing walks in nature.

03

Local flavours to try

Do not leave Thassos without tasting its famous pine honey, the traditional "throumba" olives, locally sourced spit-roasted goat in the mountain villages, and of course, fresh seafood at the seaside tavernas of Limenaria, perfectly paired with local tsipouro.

04

Rent a car or scooter

While public buses are available, timetables can be limited. Renting a car or a scooter is highly recommended as it gives you the ultimate freedom to explore. The entire coastal loop of Thassos is just 95 km, and every turn hides a breathtaking beach.

05

Respect for monasteries and churches

At the Monastery of Archangel Michael and all sacred sites on the island, a strict dress code applies (shoulders and knees must be covered). Suitable garments are usually available at the entrance, but carrying a light scarf or cardigan with you will save you time.
